What Is Autofill?

Autofill lets DavianVault automatically fill in your usernames and passwords in other apps and websites on your device. Instead of switching to DavianVault, copying a password, and pasting it — autofill does it for you in one tap.

What You See

Where: Settings → Data & Sync → Autofill Settings

The Autofill Settings screen shows:

• A status card showing whether autofill is currently enabled:

  • Green checkmark: "Autofill Enabled"
  • Info icon: "Autofill Disabled" — with an "Enable Autofill" button

• "How Autofill Works" section with three steps:

  1. Enable Autofill in your device settings
  2. Unlock Your Vault
  3. Fill Automatically — your credentials are filled into login fields

• "Platform Instructions" section with step-by-step setup guide for your platform

• Security Notice: "Autofill only works when your vault is unlocked. Your passwords are never stored outside the encrypted vault."

How to Set Up Autofill

On Android

1. Tap "Enable Autofill" in the DavianVault settings
2. You'll be taken to your device's Autofill settings
3. Select DavianVault as your autofill service
4. Return to DavianVault — the status should now show "Autofill Enabled"

Or manually:

1. Open your device's Settings app
2. Go to System → Language & Input → Autofill Service (may vary by device)
3. Select DavianVault

On iOS

1. Open the Settings app on your device
2. Go to Passwords → AutoFill Passwords
3. Enable AutoFill Passwords
4. Select DavianVault from the list of password providers

On Desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux)

Autofill APIs are mobile-only — desktop platforms don't support system-level autofill services. On desktop:

• Use DavianVault's copy buttons to copy credentials
• Paste them into login fields manually
• The clipboard auto-clears after 30 seconds for security

How Autofill Works in Practice

1. Open an app or website with a login form
2. Tap the username or password field
3. Your device shows a suggestion from DavianVault (if a matching entry exists)
4. Tap the suggestion to fill in your credentials
5. Your vault must be unlocked for autofill to work — if it's locked, you'll be prompted to unlock first

Important Notes

• Autofill only works when your vault is unlocked — your passwords are never exposed when the vault is locked
• Your passwords are never stored outside the encrypted vault — autofill reads them from the vault in real time
• Autofill matches credentials by website URL or app package name
• If no matching entry is found, no suggestion appears
• You can have only one autofill service active at a time on your device — enabling DavianVault will replace any other autofill service (like Google's)
