Password Generator

What You See

The Password Generator is accessible from the Tools tab (third tab in the navigation). It lets you create strong, random passwords.

The screen shows:

Generated Password:

  • A large card displaying the generated password in a monospace font — the text is selectable so you can highlight and copy portions

Strength Indicator:

  • A label showing the strength level: Weak, Moderate, Strong, or Very Strong
  • A color-coded progress bar:
    • Red = Weak
    • Amber = Moderate
    • Green = Strong / Very Strong
  • A numeric score

Action Buttons:

  • "Regenerate" — creates a new random password with the same settings
  • "Copy" — copies the password to your clipboard

How to Generate a Password

  1. Go to the Tools tab
  2. Tap "Password Generator"
  3. A random password is already generated with default settings
  4. Adjust the length by dragging the slider — the password regenerates automatically
  5. Toggle character types on or off — the password regenerates automatically
  6. Tap "Regenerate" to get a different password with the same settings
  7. Tap "Copy" to copy the password to your clipboard — a confirmation message appears

Tips for Strong Passwords

  • Use at least 16 characters for important accounts
  • Enable all four character types (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols) for maximum strength
  • Turn on "Avoid Ambiguous Characters" if you might need to type the password manually — this removes characters like l, 1, I, 0, O that are easy to confuse

Important Notes

  • Passwords are generated using a cryptographically secure random generator — they are truly random and unpredictable
  • At least one character type must be enabled — if you turn all off, a message appears asking you to select at least one
  • You can also generate passwords directly inside the password editor when creating or editing a password entry (tap the sparkle icon next to the password field)
