Import Data
Where: Settings → Data & Sync → Import, or Tools → Import Data
DavianVault can import passwords from other password managers so you don't have to re-enter everything manually.
Supported Sources
| Source | File Format | What's Imported |
|---|---|---|
| 1Password | CSV file | Passwords with account names, emails, usernames, passwords, URLs |
| LastPass | CSV file | Passwords with account names, emails, usernames, passwords, URLs |
| Bitwarden | JSON file | Passwords with account names, emails, usernames, passwords, URLs |
| Generic CSV | CSV file | Any CSV with recognizable column headers |
How to Import
- Open the Import screen (from Tools or Settings)
- Tap the source you're importing from (e.g., "1Password")
- A file picker opens — navigate to and select the export file from your other password manager
- The app parses the file and extracts all valid entries
- A success message tells you how many entries were imported (e.g., "Imported 47 entries")
- You're returned to the previous screen
How to Export from Other Password Managers
Before importing into DavianVault, you need to export from your current password manager:
1Password:
- Open 1Password on your computer
- Go to File → Export → CSV
- Save the file
LastPass:
- Log in to LastPass
- Go to Account Options → Advanced → Export
- Save the CSV file
Bitwarden:
- Log in to Bitwarden
- Go to Tools → Export Vault
- Choose JSON format
- Save the file
Generic CSV: If your password manager isn't listed above, export as CSV. DavianVault will attempt to match common column headers (name, url, username, email, password, notes).
Tips
- If the import file contains no valid entries, you'll see a warning: "No valid entries found"
- Imported entries appear as passwords in your vault
- You can organize imported entries into folders after import
Export Data
Export functionality is available for migrating your DavianVault data to another service or for creating a readable backup.
Supported Export Formats
| Format | Description |
|---|---|
| DavianVault JSON | Full export including all metadata — best for complete backup |
| CSV | Simple spreadsheet format — compatible with most programs |
| Bitwarden JSON | For migrating to Bitwarden |
How to Export
- Open the Export section
- Choose your desired format
- For CSV and Bitwarden JSON: a security warning appears explaining that exported data will be in plain text (unencrypted)
- Confirm to proceed
- A file save dialog opens — choose where to save the file
- A success message confirms the export
What's Exported
- Passwords (account names, emails, usernames, passwords, URLs)
- Secure notes (titles and content)
- Credit cards (names, numbers, expiry, CVV)
Attachments are NOT exported — they must be downloaded individually from the document detail screens.
Security Warning
Exported CSV and JSON files contain your data in plain text. Handle these files with extreme care:
- Transfer them securely
- Delete the files after use
- Never email unencrypted export files
- Never store them in an unencrypted location
Data Requirements
Export is only available when your vault contains exportable data (at least one password, note, or card). If the vault is empty, export options are disabled.
